Planning for the implementation and future enhancement of ICT is a complex exercise, but one that can be achieved by strategic planning. Planning in ICT should be aligned with other areas of school planning by being incorporated as one of the areas for development listed in the School's Strategic Plan. This establishes areas for development over a 3-5 year period and how this is to be financed. From this Strategic Plan the school develops a Management Plan for each Focus Priority. This identifies the outcomes, strategies, timeframe, responsibilities budget and evaluation for each priority area in the Strategic Plan for the next year. This then is translated into a Project Plan for each priority. A project focuses on a specific project or program that has been identified in the Management Plan. Assistance from a team is important at every stage of the process. Team members should include those teachers and leaders who will drive the plan within the school. They may include the Learning Technology Specialist, Teacher Librarian, CEO staff and committed teachers who will convince others, model effective practice and help drive the change. The team should also include the wider school community, such as the students, parents and school board. It is important to create shared ownership of the school's plan within this group of people, so that there is commitment to its implementation. |
