Quality TeachingThe National Goals for Schooling in the 21st Century (MCEETYA, April 1999) set out an agreed vision by all Australian governments for high quality schooling. As a result quality teaching must be based upon this vision and an understanding of contemporary learning (21st century learning). 21st century education integrates technologies, engaging students in ways not previously possible, creating new learning and teaching possibilities, enhancing achievement and extending interactions with local and global communities. Contemporary learning - learning in an online world provides an overarching statement to assist jurisdictions and schools to meet the challenges of 21st century learning. [Contemporary learning: learning in an online world, MCEETYA, 2005] To assist schools, and more particularly teachers, to develop contemporary pedagogical knowledge and skills the CEO has identified the NSW Quality Teaching Framework as the approach to pedagogy that will underpin the implementation of the curriculum frameworks across the Archdiocese.
