School Buildings – Health and Safety

Purpose:

To ensure the safety and well being of school staff, students, and volunteers in the event of a fire or bomb threat.

Policy:

All Archdiocesan schools must have written fire drill and bomb evacuation procedures that are to be prominently displayed in the school.

Regular fire drill and evacuation procedures should be conducted to familiarize the school community with the established procedures.

Procedures:

All Archdiocesan schools shall develop, display and implement emergency response procedures including, but not limited to:

  • Fire and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Regular and random evacuation drills for the practice of emergency response procedures.
  • nspecting, testing and tagging fire suppression equipment in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Australian Standard.
  • Providing and implementing appropriate fire detection equipment and monitoring procedures in accordance with the provisions of the Building Code of Australia and/or the relevant Australian Standard.
