Purpose:

To ensure that all sport and physical activity is conducted safely, minimizing the risk of injury or accident.

Policy:

That all schools follow the procedures set down in the Guidelines For the Safe Conduct of Sport and Physical Activity in Schools.

Definitions:

Procedures:

1. All staff members are to be familiar with the document Guidelines For the Safe Conduct of Sport and Physical Activity in Schools , which is available on the VISION website.

2. Staff are to follow the recommendations outlined for individual sports in the Guidelines and physical activities.

3. School risk assessment checklists are to be completed when conducting any sporting activities. Copies of these can be found in the appendices in the Guidelines or in the Archdiocesan Primary and Secondary Sports Handbook issued to NSW schools each year.

4. Consent forms are to be collected for activities off the school premises. These are to be retained by the school.

5. Catholic Sports Coordinating Committee (CSCC) Child Protection Policy (2002) to be followed when conducting Archdiocesan, MacKillop, and CCC events (NSW only).
