Purpose:

This policy supports the Catholic Education Office's commitment to providing quality employment relations practices.

Policy:

Whilst staff are appointed to a specific Archdiocesan school or position, where special circumstances exist, an employee with Continuing Employment Status may submit a request to the Director of Catholic Education for a transfer to another nominated school within the system.

Procedures:

  1. An employee with continuing employment status may, in cases where special circumstances of a professional or personal nature exist, apply to the Director for a transfer to another nominated school within the system.
  2. The Director of Catholic Education may request an employee, who is employed at an Archdiocesan school. to be transferred to a named Archdiocesan school, for compassionate or educational purposes.
  3. Such staff members will maintain continuing employment status with the Archdiocese and will suffer no detriment, now or in the future, as a result of such transfers.
  4. In the event of the Director not agreeing to a transfer request, or the teacher not accepting a transfer offer, the matter will be referred as appropriate to a meeting of a representative of the relevant union and a representative of Human Resources Division of the CEO for the provision of further advice to the Director concerning the transfer situation.
  5. The Director will make the final decision.
